STATISTICAL QUALITY CONTROL

Quality control is a part of quality management (ISO 9000:2005) focused on the fulfillment of quality requirements. It is a systematic process to monitor and improve the quality of a product, e. g., a manufactured article, or service by achieving the quality of the production process and the production plant.
Statistica1 quality control (SQC) is the term used to describe the set of statistical tools used by quality professionals. Statistical quality control can be divided into three broad categories:

1. Descriptive statistics are used to describe quality characteristics and relationships. Included are statistics such as the mean, standard deviation, the range, and a measure of the distribution of data.

2. Statistical process control (SPC) involves inspecting a random sample of the output from a process and deciding whether the process is producing products with characteristics that fall within a predetermined range. SPC answers the question of whether the process is functioning properly or not.

3. Acceptance sampling is the process of randomly inspecting a sample of goods and deciding whether to accept the entire lot based on the results. Acceptance sampling determines whether a batch of goods should be accepted or rejected.

SCIENTIFIC MANAGEMENT

Scientific management
Fredrick W Taylor is known as the  father of scientific management.
Taylor was interested in replacing traditional management by scientific  management by developing the most scientific and rational principle for handling people, machine, material, and money and to secure maximum benefit for the employers as well as employees.
Basic 4 principle for scientific management
1)      Every job should be broken into its elements and a scientific method to perform each element should be established.
2)      Workers should be scientifically selected with right attitudes for the job and ability and then properly trained to perform the work.
3)      Management should cooperate with the workers to ensure that all work is done in accordance with the scientific principle.
4)      The management should design the work, set up and supervise the work and the workers are free to perform the work.
Scientific management became accepted management philosophy about the relationship between people and work. It was complete mantel revolution for both management and employees towards their respective duties and towards each other.
