OBJECTIVES OF PPC
The ultimate aim is to make maximum
profit of the enterprises To deliver quality goods in required quantities to
right customers to achieve maximum customer satisfaction and minimum possible cost.
To ensure maximum utilization of resources .To ensures production of quality
goods .To co-ordinate b/w labor and machines. To solve problem related to
production
SCOPE OF PPC
Material – planning for
the procurement of raw material and spare parts in the right quantities from
the right source at the right price.
Methods- choosing the
best method of processing from several alternatives
Machines- it involves
allocation and utilization of machines, plant and equipments.
Manpower- planning for
manpower like labor, supervisory and managerial skills having appropriate
skills.
Routing- determining
the flow of work
Loading- machine
loading is the allocation of jobs to machines with considering capacity of
machines and priority of jobs
Dispatching- it is the
release of orders and instructions for the starting of production
Inspection- this function
is related to maintenance of quality in production and evaluating the efficiency
of process, methods, and labor so that improvement can be made
Evaluating- the objective
of evaluating is to improve performance of machines and labor.
Cost control- cost can be
controlled by wastage reduction, inventory control, and efficient utilization
of resources.
FUNCTIONS OF PPC
Estimating- it involves
the quantity of products to be produced and cost involved in it
Routing- this is the
process of determining the sequence of operation to be performed in the
production process
Scheduling-it involves
fixing priorities for each job and determining the starting time and finishing
time
Loading- loading is the
process of converting operation schedule into practice
LEVELS OF PPC
Strategic planning ( corporate level)- it is a process
of thinking through the current mission and environment and then setting a
guide for future decision and results
Tactical planning(intermediate level)- this planning is
usully done at middle level mgt.it involves employment plan, machinery plan
etc. These plan have period of 6-18 months’
Operational planning (operational
level)- it
is done by junior level mgt. It is concerned with the utilization of the existing
facilities rather than creation of new facilities
BENEFITS OF PPC
It is the nerve centre of production function.
It coordinates production system. An efficient ppc function results in higher
quality, better utilization of resources, faster delivery, better customer services.
An efficient ppc system enables the firm to improve its sales turnover, market
share, and profitability etc
LIMITATION OF PPC
It is based on certain assumption. if
these assumption go wrong , ppc become wrong It is a time consuming process.PPC
function becomes extremely difficult when the environmental factors change very
rapidly.
